Koya, Kurdistan Region – [17-Dec-2024] – Rwanga Foundation, in collaboration with the Koya District Administration, celebrated the Kurdistan Flag Day at the historic Qishla Fortress in Koya, and the grave of Dildar, the renowned Kurdish poet of the national anthem "Ey Raqib." This special event honored the Kurdish flag and its deep significance to the identity, culture, and history of the Kurdish people.

The carnival was attended by prominent officials, including the General Director of Rwanga Foundation, Hassan Sheikh Alauddin, his deputy, and the District Administrator of Koya, Hakim Tariq. The event also drew the participation of senior government and party officials, youth, and citizens from across the Kurdistan Region and all four parts of Kurdistan, all gathered to celebrate the Kurdish flag and its vital meaning.

The ceremony began with a moving rendition of the Kurdish national anthem, "Ey Raqib," during which the Kurdish flag was raised. Attendees paid tribute by laying wreaths at the tomb of Dildar. Speeches from Hassan Sheikh Alauddin and Hakim Tariq emphasized the flag’s representation of Kurdish unity, culture, and aspirations. Both speakers stressed the importance of nurturing future generations to protect and preserve Kurdish heritage and identity.

In addition to the solemn ceremony, the event featured several performances, including patriotic Kurdish songs by the Koya Bavaji Art Group and artist Lalo Ranjdar. A special performance by the Rwanga Music Group also captivated the audience, with their traditional music and daf (drum) performance, adding an authentic cultural touch to the celebrations.

The Kurdistan flag holds immense importance for the Kurdish people, symbolizing their collective history, culture, and identity. The wide participation from all regions of Kurdistan reflected the strong commitment to preserving this cherished national symbol for future generations.
