Rwanga Foundation, founded by The Honorable Idris Nechirvan Barzani, exemplifies the dedication of a passionate leader committed to serving humanity and fostering societal development.
This foundation originated from the dream of a 14-year-old youth whose heart always belonged to his nation. He aimed to help his fellow citizens and improve their lives. That initial passion grew over time, leading to greater efforts to serve humanity.
As a young man, The Honorable Idris Nechirvan Barzani recognized that service activities should transcend race, religion, ideology, and other differences. He envisioned establishing an institution that would contribute to creating a better life not only in the Kurdistan Region but also globally.
While searching for a suitable name for this institution, he came across a magazine published on April 25, 1970, written by Sherko Bekas. The magazine’s name, "Rwanga," inspired the name of his foundation.
Rwanga Foundation has become the cornerstone of thousands of initiatives and projects across various fields, including education, youth empowerment, environmental conservation, cultural preservation, research, and many other social and national areas.
Respected Idris Nechirvan Barzani continues to serve the community and strive to create a better future for all.
Rwanga's vision is to foster a healthy and peaceful environment where everyone can thrive. This is achieved through the promotion of education and culture, the preservation of heritage and language, and the support of charitable efforts to assist those in need.
Rwanga's mission is to provide services, build capacities, and facilitate the implementation of strategic roadmaps to foster a healthier and more peaceful environment in Kurdistan and beyond.
Rwanga Foundation is a non-governmental organization that envisions a world where quality education is accessible to all.
Its mission is to provide services, build capacities, and design policies to ensure easy access to education for everyone while improving overall educational standards in Kurdistan and the broader global community.
Rwanga officially launched its activities in September 2013, implementing projects and initiatives throughout Iraq across four main sectors: education, youth, environment, and vulnerable groups.
The strategic goals of Rwanga include providing platforms for youth to discover their talents and reach their full potential, integrating modern technology such as e-learning systems—into the educational process to align with advanced international standards, and fostering a culture and passion for learning, especially among young people.
