Erbil (August 15, 2024) – MHPSS Training Empowers Rwanga Foundation Staff and Government Employees to Support Child Wellbeing

The Rwanga Foundation, as part of its "You Are Not Alone" project, successfully conducted a four-day training session on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support & Stress Management (MHPSS). Held from August 12 to August 15, 2024, at the Erbil Van Royal Hotel, this training focused on equipping staff and government employees with the skills necessary to recognize and address the emotional and psychological challenges faced by children.

The training brought together participants from the Rwanga Foundation and government employees working at the orphanage, aiming to enhance their ability to identify signs of emotional distress in children and implement effective support strategies. Throughout the four days, participants were provided with essential tools and practical skills designed to address these challenges, ensuring they are better prepared to support children’s emotional well-being.

The MHPSS initiative is crucial for the early identification of emotional and mental issues in children. By empowering participants with these skills, the program aims to create a more supportive environment for children, contributing positively to their overall well-being.

Key activities during the session included engaging in case scenarios and activities that allowed participants to apply learned strategies in practical settings. These hands-on experiences were critical in boosting the participants' knowledge and confidence in providing effective support to children in need.

Syamand Fareq, Project Coordinator, emphasized the importance of this training, stating, “Enhancing staff skills and knowledge is crucial for improving work performance and ensuring the well-being of the children under our care.”

The MHPSS activity is part of the Rwanga Foundation’s broader commitment to advancing educational practices and fostering strong community engagement through targeted training sessions, ensuring the holistic development and well-being of children.
