Empowering PTA Members in Sulaimani
Sulaimani (August 14, 2024) – MYRP Project Hosts Training Session on Roles and Responsibilities of Parent-Teachers Association
The Rwanga Foundation, as part of its MYRP Project, successfully conducted a two-day training session focused on the roles and responsibilities of the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) in accordance with the Kurdistan Ministry of Education regulations. Held on August 13-14, 2024, in Sulaimani, this session was designed to empower and raise awareness among PTA members to enhance their collaboration for the upcoming educational year.
The training brought together 41 PTA members from four targeted locations, including Derik School in Arbat Refugee Camp, Hawar School in Said Sadiq, Mam School in Ranya (independent administration of Raparin), and Mishtanoor School in Qaladze (independent administration of Raparin). The goal was to ensure that PTA members are well-versed in their roles and responsibilities, enabling them to effectively support educational processes and community involvement.
MYRP, which began on July 1, 2024, and is set to conclude on October 15, 2024, aims to deliver high-quality and comprehensive education while providing psychological and social support for children affected by crises. The project also focuses on expanding educational centers through renovation and providing necessary materials and stationery for both refugee and host community students.
Key activities of the project include training sessions, non-formal education, and the provision of teaching and learning materials. The initiative is critical in promoting education among Syrian refugees and enhancing the quality of educational support.
Zanyar Saeed, Project Coordinator, commented, “This training allowed both parents and teachers to deeply understand their roles within the Parent-Teachers Association. It was a valuable opportunity for them to become familiar with the Ministry of Education's instructions and rules, ensuring effective internal discussions and solutions regarding students and educational processes.”
The MYRP Project is committed to advancing educational practices and fostering strong community engagement through these targeted training sessions.
