Exciting Collaboration! Rwanga Foundation & International Labor Organization unite for Social Security in Halabja.
Halabja, October 15th, 2023 – This roundtable was implemented by Rwanga Foundation in partnership with International Labour Organization (ILO) and is funded by the European Union, it aims to bring together different stakeholders, entities, and decision makers to discuss “Undertake Advocacy Program on Social Assistance Issues in Iraq’’ Including opportunities in extending social security to workers in the informal economy which is mainly to include all different sectors. The difficulties were discussed, and the best solutions were proposed.
The meetings were attended by different entities, related personnel from the government, job-owners and NGOs including (Igor Bosc – Country Coordinator for International Labor Organization in Iraq), (Abdulsalam Medani – Chief executive Director of Rwanga Foundation), (Nazmi Musa Othman – Deputy Director of the Directorate of Labor and social security), (Aso Esmail Rashid – Director of Halabja Social Insurance directorate) and (Dana Hamasharif – General director of the Directory of labor and social affairs in Halabja) designated participants have discussed and made suggestions and recommendations to achieve the deliverable goal, During the roundtable meetings, topics were discussed about various sectors and informal workers who are not registered in the social security system yet.
This roundtable was another contribution towards advocating for the rights of informal workers in that region and enforcing social security as a law for all workers in the informal economy in all sectors, Rwanga Foundation has previously and will continue to partner with ILO and the different entities to achieve the deliverable goals.
