Students from KRI are competing to be recognized as the "Mathematics Champion"

Erbil, KRI (March 7, 2023) - For the fifth year in a row, Rwanga Foundation, in coordination with the Ministry of Education, hosts the first stage of the Mathematics Competition across KRI, with 392 tenth-grade students competing for the title of 'Mathematics Champion'.



Rwanga Foundation successfully hosted the Mathematics competition project for 10th-grade students, with the goal of encouraging student interest and excellence while also providing a platform for students to showcase their knowledge and skills.


This year, 392 students from public schools from all over Kurdistan competed in the first stage of the competition. Each school has selected its best student to represent it.


The first stage exam was held in 20 examination halls in different districts and locations and among Nine General Directorates of Education in the Kurdistan region of Iraq Including General Directorates of Education in (Erbil, Sulaimani, Duhok, Kirkuk, Halabja, Garmyan, Soran, Raparin and Zakho).


The Mathematics Competition is divided into four stages.

​• Stage One: Students compete in the first stage to advance to the second stage, where only 60 students will remain.

• Second Stage: 60 students compete, with only 6 advancing to the final stage.

• The final stage is divided into two parts. In the first round, six students will compete live, with only three remaining. The three students will compete live to win the titles of first, second, and third place.


First, second, and third-place winners will be recognized and rewarded at the final stage and following the live competition. The first-place winner will receive $2,000, with another $2,000 going to their school. The second-place winner will receive $1,500, with another $1,500 going to their school. In addition, the third-place winner will get $1250, and the school will receive $1,250. Furthermore, the first-place winner will be honored as 'Mathematics Champion' on the Kurdistan level. 



The 'Mathematics Competition' is held annually by the Rwanga Foundation in coordination with the Ministry of Education. The goal of this initiative is to inspire students in the tenth grade to enroll in high school science programs and to help them recognize the importance of scientific subjects.
