Rwanga Foundation and Czech Republic Consulate open 6 New Classrooms in Rovia High School

Duhok, KRI (September 18, 2022) - On the occasion of the new school year, a delegation from the Czech Republic Consulate, led by the Czech Consul General in Erbil, and Rwanga Foundation, visited the Rovia High School for Girls in Bardarash district, Duhok Governate, to open six new additional classrooms built by Rwanga Foundation in collaboration with Czech Republic Development.

 

In response to the education sector's needs in the Rovia sub-district to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education, effective learning and limiting the negative impact of overcrowded classrooms, and improving learning conditions in the classrooms. Six new classrooms were built inside the Rovia Highschool as well as planting trees in the garden of the school.

 

The ceremony was attended by the Czech Consul General in Erbil (Karel Kortanek) and a delegation from the consulate, an Educational Staff from Rovia Governmental entity, Rwanga Team, school principals, and school teachers.

The ceremony started with opening the six additional classrooms, planting trees in the garden of the school by the delegation, a tour inside the school, and then continued with meeting the students at one of the classes.

The project took a duration of four months to finish, and the total beneficiary of the project is 175 female students aged (13-15) years

 

As a result of this project, the existing classrooms will become less congested, from 40 – 45 students to 30 -35 students. This will be an excellent indication to help reduce the number of students in the classroom by 90% to support quality education and school extension.
