Rwanga Foundation Provides Food Baskets

KURDISTAN, April 11th, 2020, Rwanga Foundation launched a wide campaign to provide food baskets to vulnerable families.

The campaign aims to deliver food assistance to a large number of disadvantaged families, mainly those who used to depend on daily income and have lost their jobs due to lockdowns as a result of the Covid-19. The food distribution will cover cities, towns and villages across Kurdistan region in the four governorates of Erbil, Sulaimani, Duhok and Halabja.

In total, more than five thousand food baskets will be distributed, and each basket contains food items covering needs of a five-member family for more than two months. The baskets include 17 items: rice, cereal grain (bulgur), sugar, tea, cooking oil, tomato paste, chickpeas, beans, lentil, milk, salt, dishwashing liquid, soap, sanitizer, masks and gloves.     

The first phase of the project has started on April 11th in Daratoo sub-district in Erbil, Baziyan sub-district in Sulaimani, Zakho district in Duhok and Halabja city.  

The campaign will continue to cover cities, towns and villages in the aforementioned four governorates.
