Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – March 14, 2025 – To commemorate the birth anniversary of revered Kurdish leader Mustafa Barzani, the Rwanga Foundation today launched a large-scale environmental campaign, “Every Planting is a Hope,” at Erbil Polytechnic University. Idris Nechirvan Barzani, President and Founder of the Rwanga Foundation, joined students, faculty, and environmental advocates to plant hundreds of native tree seedlings, symbolizing a renewed commitment to ecological preservation and sustainable development in Kurdistan.
The initiative, designed to honor Mustafa Barzani’s enduring legacy of unity and progress, emphasized the interconnectedness of environmental stewardship and cultural heritage. Participants planted trees, carefully selected to thrive in the region’s climate.
The Rwanga Foundation, under Idris Nechirvan Barzani’s leadership, has spearheaded numerous environmental projects, including reforestation drives, water conservation programs, and youth-led climate education workshops. This latest campaign aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reinforces the Foundation’s vision of empowering communities through ecological action.
