Language is Identity, Culture, and History: Rwanga Foundation Celebrates International Mother Language Day
Duhok, Kurdistan Region - February 23, 2025
In a special ceremony, the Rwanga Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Duhok, celebrated International Mother Language Day, showcasing national dress and the spirit of coexistence.
The event was attended by the Governor of Duhok Dr. Ali Tatar, the President of the University of Duhok Dr. Dawd Sleman Atrushy, government and political party officials, administrators, writers, and intellectuals from the city of Duhok.
A panel discussion on "Preserving the Mother Language" brought together Kurdish language experts from all parts of Kurdistan, who emphasized the importance of safeguarding language and history. They specifically explored ways to educate and empower future generations to protect their mother tongue and cultural heritage.
The ceremony was further enriched by a performance of traditional Kurdish folkloric music by the Rwanga music group.
As part of its cultural initiatives, the Rwanga Foundation considers these efforts essential to preserving national identity, heritage, and history.
The ceremony proceeded as follows:
A moment of silence in honor of the pure souls of martyrs
