Idris Nechirvan Barzani, the founder and president of the Rwanga Foundation, is a prominent leader in social work and community development in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. In 2013, he established the Rwanga Foundation to create more learning opportunities for youth, enhance their skills, and broaden the intellectual horizons of the next generation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Founder's Vision

Since the establishment of the Foundation, its projects and initiatives have expanded significantly, contributing to societal development in various areas, including economic growth, youth empowerment, environmental protection, charity work, and job creation.

Idris Nechirvan Barzani has shown a strong commitment to environmental protection, leading initiatives aimed at preserving Kurdistan’s natural landscapes and addressing the challenges of climate change. These initiatives include increasing green spaces, promoting sustainable tree planting, reducing water consumption, and raising community awareness about environmental conservation. He firmly believes that culture is the foundation of a nation and a powerful force for uniting society. This belief has fueled his steadfast support for cultural projects and his efforts to integrate Kurdish culture and identity into the core programs of the Rwanga Foundation.

Education is his highest priority because he believes it is essential for building a prosperous future. He views education as not only crucial for individual advancement but also as a fundamental pillar for creating a healthy and progressive society. Through Rwanga, he has focused on improving educational opportunities, especially in underserved and remote areas.
