Mathematics Competition 2019

Mathematics Competition is one of the projects of the Rwanga Foundation that aims to encourage and motivate students to attend the science stream. The project creates a competition among 196 students of 169 schools in Erbil Governorate to compete and win the title of ‘Mathematics Champion in Erbil.

The Objectives of the  project are to motivate the 10th grade students to attend the science stream at high school, and raise awareness the parents of students about importance of science stream. Since 2011, the Department of Studies and Research in the Directorate of Planning at the Ministry of Education gave warnings about increasing enrolment of the 10th grade students at the art (humanities) stream in high schools.


Stages of the Competition: 

  •  Preliminary Test: 169 students will attend a mathematics unified test, and 10 students will move to the second stage.
  • Quarter Final: 10  students will attend a mathematics unified test, and 5 students will move to the second stage.
  • Semi Final: 5 students  will attend a mathematics unified test, and 3 students will move to the second stage.
  • Final Test: The final test will take place in Erbil with a competition among the three winners to select the ‘Mathematics Champion in Erbil' among the 10th grade students in the science stream.

  2. Second Place Winner: Nza Wshyar from Chro Primary School for Girls
  3. Third Place Winner: Nwa Hemn from Guli Zard Primary School
