Mathematics Competition is one of the projects of the Rwanga Foundation that aims to encourage and motivate students to attend the science stream. The project creates a competition among 196 students of 169 schools in Erbil Governorate to compete and win the title of ‘Mathematics Champion in Erbil.

The Objectives of the  project are to motivate the 10th grade students to attend the science stream at high school, and raise awareness the parents of students about importance of science stream. Since 2011, the Department of Studies and Research in the Directorate of Planning at the Ministry of Education gave warnings about increasing enrolment of the 10th grade students at the art (humanities) stream in high schools.
