Rwanga Foundation Delivers Communication Skills and Humanitarian Principles Training

Duhok, KRI (February , 2021) – Rwanga Foundation conducted a three-day training about Communication Skills and Humanitarian Principles for the staff of Directorate of Labour and Social Affairs (DoLSA) in Duhok.


Communication skills and Humanitarian Principles training are two of the most important capacity building trainings that were given to DoLSA staff as part of the ‘Capacity Building of General Directorate of Care and Social Development in Duhok Governorate’ project. The project supports and develops the technical skills and capabilities of DoLSA to be able to operate the community social centres in the six camps of Kabartu 1, Kabartu 2, Chammishku, Shariya, Bajikandal 2, and Qadiya (Rwanga Community) where more than 90,000 IDPs live.


The Communication Skills training was delivered to 19 staff of DoLSA and was given by a professional trainer (Sarmad M. Qasim) in Duhok governorate. The Humanitarian Principles training, on the other hand, was delivered by (Dr. Rayan Rasheed) with the participation of 18 participants. The trainings covered both theoretical and practical sessions. At the end of the trainings, a ceremony was held and the participants received certificates from Rwanga Foundation. 


‘It was a good opportunity participating in this training; I can now implement what I have learned during this training in my work’ said one of the participants.

Awaz Kichan - the project coordinator said “The training was mainly about the (elements of good communication, verbal and non-verbal communication, and reports writing), the participants mentioned the uniqueness of this training from other communication trainings".


The Capacity Building of General Directorate of Care and Social Development in Duhok Governorate is implemented by Rwanga Foundation in partnership with GIZ and funded by BMZ Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, Germany. The project started in April 2020 and will continue until March 2021. This project includes various activities including; on job trainings (Finance, Logistics, and Monitoring and Evaluation, Trainings (communication, proposal writing, finance, logistics, and M&E), Center renovation,  Development of a website for DoLSA, Developing SOPs (standard operating procedure).
