The project is funded by The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by GIZ in cooperation with Rwanga Foundation for development.

Overview and Goal of the project:  

The project aims to empower youth with the skills and knowledge essential for prosperity in the job market, fostering economic stability, and nurturing a more inclusive and prosperous community, empowering the youth will be through encouraging entrepreneurs to start or improve their businesses and grant provision, in addition to that, enhancing the vocational and employability skills of young individuals and offering them a six months internship programe, at the same time, skilled and unskilled youth will be engaged in environmental activities through cash for work programe.

Project Duration:

(December 1, 2023 – November 30, 2024)

Activities of the project:

1.     Planting trees and Promote Environmental Sustainability

Within the scope of the project, 20,000 trees will be planted in Kasnazan, Dilopa in Erbil Governorate through advanced Technology of Groasis waterboxx, the implementation of this activity will be through Cash for work by involving 155 of skilled and unskilled youth and 5 female consultants to supervise the execution of this activity.  

2.      Technical Vocational and Education Training and Internship programe

Through this activity, 200 youth will have the chance to participate in the vocational training course, gain or improve their skills in six different fields which are (Solar power, Gastronomy, Sewing, Hairdressing, CNC, marketing and sales ) for the duration of 45 days, upon the successful completion of the training courses, the participants will have the chance for an internship programe for the duration of six month in private sectors.

3.     Job Readiness and Employability Training and Internship programe

50 motivated fresh graduated youth will be enrolled in the Job readiness and employability training course such as (CV writing, interview, time management, conflict resolution and problem solving) for the duration of three days, afterward, they will be enrolled into the internship programe for the duration of six months in the private sectors.

4.     Entrepreneurship Training courses and provision of Grants:

Within this activity 150 participants will receive business training courses to start or improve their business, after completing the training courses successfully, 130 of them will receive grants as a support to start or improve their business.

-        Age: 18 – 35

-        Gender: 50% Male - 50%Female – 10% PWD (People with disabilities)

-        Location: Erbil: Soran and Koya , Duhok: Zakho and Amedi , Sulaymaniyah: Halabja and Kaniba quarter

-        Target Group

·       Host community: 50%

·       IDP: 30%

·       Refugee: 20%
