Income Generation for Martyr Families

The project is to open a three-month course for 100 female and male youth (2 months English and 1 month computer) in Erbil. The beneficiaries are be mainly from Erbil center but also the surrounding townships and villages. The 100 course participants will be divided into 5 groups (20 persons per group). At the end of the course, the top three participants per group (15 participants in total), who are selected based on a final exam by the trainers, are offered an internship for one month and accordingly provided with USD 150 each.   


Furthermore, opening sewing courses for 30 Women (15 women per group) for two months in Soran and Harir districts respectively. At the end of the course, each woman participant receives a sewing machine and a grant of USD 150 to purchase some necessary tools and materials to start up a small-scale, mainly home-based, business.


Previously, Rwanga Foundation, funded by Marathon Oil Corporation, completed a project of cash assistance distribution to families of the martyred peshmergas and security forces who were killed in the war against ISIS. The Marathon Oil and Rwanga Foundation has agreed to use the remained funds to conduct income-generating project for the martyrs’ family members - mainly the youths and women - to support them to find jobs and become financially independent.
